You may be under the impression that it is difficult or even impossible to train your cat. This impression normally comes from the idea that cats seem to be very independent animals. Although this is true, and cats do seem to act like loners a lot of the time, cat training is not as difficult as it may seem. You can change any cats behavior problems with the right cat pet training techniques.

One of the main reasons that cat pet training seems difficult is that your cat probably doesn’t understand what you asking of it. Training your cat takes a little time and a little patience. The methods used need to be different from the methods that you would use to train a dog. A dog will normally try to please you in some way after it has been told off, a cat on the other hand will not respond to being told off. There is a good change that will not acknowledge your presence, and not bother coming near you in the future.

The perfect way to train your cat will be by using methods of reward. Always praise your cat when it does something that you are happy with. When your cat does something bad, don't react and try to ignore it. Your cat will quickly come to learn that if it does certain things it is going to be rewarded in some way. It will also come to realise that there is no rewards on offer for other types of behavior.

Lets face it, we all love attention and praise. Cats are not so different, you just need to use methods that your cat will understand for it to behave differently. Training a kitten is easier than waiting until it gets older, but that doesn't mean that older cats cannot be trained to change their behaviors. You may need a bit more time time, it depends on your cats personality. However you will be able to change your cats behavior.

Getting your cat to come to you when you call it is probably the first thing that you will want it to learn. When you try and train your pet to do this, try to make sure that there are no distractions. Now all your cats attention will be on the matter at hand. You will need to pick a word that you will use regularly for this technique. A short command will work very well. You would also be better off using only one or two words, you will only confuse your pet if you try to have a debate with it. Simple and short is the key.

Once you have picked the command, you need to focus on your tone. This is important for training your cat. Your cat is not capable of understanding the majority of words that you use, however it will know of your intentions by the tone that you use. Make your voice seem excited and keep the tone pleasant. Crouch on the floor holding something that your cat will like. When you make yourself seem smaller you are not so intimidating.

Call to your cat in a loving voive. If your cat comes to you straight away, make sure you give it the treat and make a fuss over it. Try moving to different places and continue to repeat the exercise. Just do this cat training exercise for about 5 minutes each day, and very quickly you will see a massive improvement in your cats behavior when you call it.
