Ear mites in cats are tiny parasitic insects that live in your kitty’s ears.  It’s said that good things come in small packages, but cat ear mites are a small package that can cause big problems.

These little bugs tunnel into your cat’s ear canals, which causes intense itching.Your kitty may shake her head so hard that she breaks blood vessels in her ear flaps.  The blood quickly fills the spaces in her ear flap, resulting in swelling and intense pain.  This is called a “hematoma.”  If your kitty develops a hematoma in her ear flap, the blood must be drained by the vet to prevent a permanent “cauliflower ear.”
